At least six people were injured in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv after a massive, coordinated overnight barrage of Russian drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles targeted cities and critical infrastructure across Ukraine, officials said Tuesday.
The Ukrainian Air Force issued urgent alerts throughout the night as waves of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and high-speed ballistic missiles targeted the city.
Air defense officials repeatedly urged residents to seek immediate shelter.
In the wider Kyiv region, the State Emergency Service said Russian forces launched drone strikes targeting Boryspil and Fastiv districts. The attacks ignited fires at industrial enterprises in the Boryspil area, where a blaze destroyed seven trucks. Rescuers also responded to a logistics complex that was struck twice, successfully extinguishing all fires at the scene.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that the capital was under a ballistic attack, calling for medics to be dispatched to the city’s Solomianskyi district.
Klitschko said a fire broke out on the grounds of an educational institution in Holosiivskyi district. He also confirmed that fires broke out in non-residential areas of Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts.
While there is currently no official information regarding casualties outside the capital, Klitschko confirmed that at least six people were injured as a result of the strikes on the city. Three of the wounded were hospitalized, while the remaining three were provided with outpatient care.
The strikes extended far beyond the capital, hitting key regions such as Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Zaporizhia, Odesa, Kharkiv and Donetsk. Russian tactical aircraft also released KABs, highly destructive guided aerial bombs, to strike frontline positions and civilian structures in eastern regions.
The strikes mark a continuation of hostilities as attacks resumed following a three-day temporary ceasefire that was observed during a recent visit to the region by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
