Security forces killed four militants, including an Afghan national, during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kurram district.
According to the reports, the operation was carried out on Sept 8, during which Obaidullah Saad and three of his associates were killed, according to the sources.
Saad, son of Ghulam Ghaus Salehi, was said to be a resident of Shahi Qila village in Afghanistan’s Logar province. As per reports, he was affiliated with the banned Fitna al-Khawarij and had been involved in several terrorist activities in Pakistan.
Security officials said operations against militants infiltrating Pakistan from Afghanistan would continue, reiterating that safeguarding the country and protecting the lives and property of citizens remained a priority.
The development comes days after the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed five suspected militants, including a key commander, during an operation near Shamsto Camp in Peshawar.
According to the CTD, the operation was conducted at a compound in the Armar area, where the militants were allegedly planning attacks on sensitive installations, imambargahs and churches.
The department said the militants were affiliated with the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).
