The Punjab government has decided to place examination centres for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 under centralised camera surveillance to strengthen security and ensure transparency during the examination.
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has been approached to facilitate the monitoring arrangements, under which a dedicated unit will provide centralised access to cameras installed at examination centres.
Officials said the centres would remain under continuous CCTV surveillance throughout the examination as part of the security arrangements.
MDCAT 2026 is scheduled to be held on Sept 20 across 15 cities in Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Gujrat and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Examination centres will also be established in Sahiwal, Layyah, Bahawalnagar, Mianwali and Rahim Yar Khan.
Meanwhile, according to a public notice issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), students seeking admission to medical and dental colleges abroad are required to obtain at least 50 per cent marks in MDCAT or pass an equivalent foreign admission examination.
The PMDC has advised students planning to study at overseas institutions to strictly comply with the prescribed eligibility requirements to avoid complications regarding the future registration and recognition of their qualifications in Pakistan.
