Pakistan conducts aerial strikes on militant hideouts in Afghanistan

Pakistan has conducted what it described as well-planned and calibrated aerial strikes against the hideouts and safe havens of terrorist organisations Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan in Afghanistan.

According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the strikes were carried out on the basis of credible intelligence and targeted terrorist camps and hideouts at two locations.

The ministry said the targets were destroyed with precision and initial reports indicated that 22 terrorists were killed. Large quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the hideouts were also destroyed.

The ministry said Pakistan had taken maximum precautions to avoid collateral damage during the strikes.

It added that Pakistan had consistently sought peace and stability in the region, while the safety and security of its citizens remained the foremost priority.

The Information Ministry said the threat to Pakistan emanated from Afghanistan and alleged that the country continued to serve as a hub for terrorism. It said the strikes specifically targeted terrorist hubs linked to threats against Pakistan.

The ministry further said Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign, Ghazab lil Haq, being conducted under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework, would continue at full pace to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.
