Türkiye has joined regional diplomatic efforts by initiating contact with Pakistan regarding the rising tensions with Afghanistan.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Ishaq Dar, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, held a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan. The discussion centered on the latest developments between Islamabad and Kabul amid escalating border strains.
During the call, Dar conveyed Pakistan’s position, stating that the country had responded in a measured and appropriate manner to what he termed unprovoked aggression from the Afghan side. He highlighted that under “Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq,” Pakistan conducted targeted air operations aimed at protecting its national security interests.
Both sides underscored the need to prevent further escalation and stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region. The two foreign ministers agreed to stay in close coordination as the situation unfolds.
The development comes after Russia and Iran expressed willingness to facilitate dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan to ease growing border tensions.
