Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday urged the nation to renew its commitment to securing a dignified place for Pakistan in the global community, as the country marked Pakistan Day.
In her message on the occasion, she said March 23 symbolised a decisive moment in history that paved the way for the creation of a separate homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent. She described the Lahore Resolution as a milestone in the struggle for independence.
The chief minister said Pakistan Day marked the historic beginning of the Pakistan Movement and emphasised that unity, organisation, hard work and honesty were essential for national progress.
Highlighting the sacrifices of the country’s founding generation, she said they demanded a continued commitment to achieving the true objectives of independence. She stressed the importance of adhering to the vision of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in order to secure a respected position for Pakistan among nations.
CM Maryam reaffirmed her government’s resolve to make every effort towards strengthening the country’s standing internationally, adding that Pakistan Day serves as a reminder to shape the nation in accordance with the ideals of its founders.
