Murtaza Wahab has announced the formation of a vigilance squad aimed at protecting the city’s infrastructure and taking legal action against those involved in damaging public property.
In a statement, the mayor said the squad comprises 20 electric bikes, introduced to reduce fuel costs and enable rapid response across different areas of the city. He emphasized that the motorcycles would strictly be used for official duties and not for protocol purposes, warning that strict action would be taken against any misuse.
“We do the work, someone else goes to do the road cutting. We install streetlights, someone steals them,” he said, highlighting the challenges faced by the city administration in maintaining public infrastructure.
Meanwhile, political tensions between Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have intensified following the removal of Kamran Tessori as Sindh governor. The development has triggered a fresh round of accusations and blame game between leaders of both parties.
