Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, saying it was the result of diplomatic efforts led by former United States president Donald Trump.
In a post on X, the prime minister expressed hope that the ceasefire would pave the way for lasting peace in the region. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to efforts aimed at ensuring durable peace.
Separately, PMShehbaz arrived in Türkiye after visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar to participate in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
He is expected to attend the fifth edition of the forum and take part in a leaders’ panel titled “Roadmap for Tomorrow and Managing Uncertainty”, where he will present Pakistan’s perspective.
The prime minister will also attend the opening ceremony of the forum and is scheduled to hold meetings with President Erdoğan and other world leaders participating in the event.
