Temperatures soar past 40°C in parts of Sindh, Balochistan

Temperatures are rising across the country, with the mercury crossing 40 degrees Celsius in parts of Sindh and Balochistan, the Met Office said on Monday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), maximum temperatures in several cities are expected to remain high, particularly in southern regions.

In Balochistan, temperatures in Sibi are likely to reach 44°C, while in Sindh, Sukkur could record up to 43°C. Other cities in the province are also expected to experience intense heat, with temperatures forecast to reach 42°C in Dadu, 41°C in Mithi and 40°C in Hyderabad.

In Karachi, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35°C.

Meanwhile, temperatures in parts of Punjab are also on the rise. The mercury is likely to climb to 37°C in Multan and Sargodha, while Dera Ghazi Khan and Lahore may record highs of around 36°C.

The PMD has forecast a shift in weather patterns, indicating dry conditions are expected to persist across much of Sindh in the coming days, with temperatures continuing to rise.

Weather conditions in the province are likely to remain stable but increasingly warm. In Karachi, temperatures are expected to gradually increase, with daytime highs reaching 34°C or above.

The department also warned that the rising trend in temperatures could intensify later in the month, raising the possibility of heatwave conditions by the end of April.
