US congressional resolution praises Pakistan’s role in Iran peace efforts

A resolution introduced in the United States House of Representatives has commended Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts to facilitate peace talks between the United States, Israel, and Iran amid ongoing regional tensions.

The resolution highlights Pakistan’s role in hosting diplomatic delegations despite logistical difficulties, including citywide shutdowns.

“Pakistan has clearly demonstrated its desire to facilitate an end to the war between the United States and Israel with Iran,” the measure states. It credits the country with playing an “integral role” and providing a “secure and reliable location for peace talks.”

The document also points to the human and financial cost of the conflict, noting that at least 13 US service members have been killed, while more than 399 have been injured. It adds that the war is costing the United States nearly $1 billion per day.

The resolution warns that any further escalation, including the possible deployment of US ground troops in Iran, “would create strife, disunity, and turmoil within the United States of America.”

It also says that bringing the conflict to an end could help stabilize global energy markets and petroleum prices.

While several countries attempted to mediate, the resolution says Pakistan emerged as the main facilitator. The formal title of the measure is “Original Resolution Commending the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its efforts to facilitate peace between the United States and Israel with Iran.”

The resolution further states that the House “acknowledges and commends the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its efforts to facilitate a lasting peace between the United States and Israel with Iran.”
