KP Excise Department issues guidelines for petrol subsidy payments

The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued an important update for vehicle owners, including motorcyclists, regarding pending petrol subsidy payments under the Fuel Subsidy Scheme.

In a statement shared on social media, the department said the government has started disbursing petrol subsidy payments through the State Bank of Pakistan for various vehicle categories, including buses, trucks, minibuses, delivery vans and long vehicles such as trailers.

According to the department, applicants must meet three eligibility requirements to receive the subsidy: the vehicle must be registered in the owner’s name and linked with their CNIC, a valid route permit must be issued in the same name, and a bank account must also be registered under the same CNIC.

It further noted that several cases were returned by the State Bank of Pakistan due to incomplete documentation, particularly where applicants did not have bank accounts in their own names despite meeting other conditions.

The Director General of the Excise Department has advised eligible vehicle owners who have not yet opened bank accounts to do so immediately to avoid delays in receiving payments.

Separately, the Sindh Cabinet has approved an extension of the petrol relief program aimed at providing continued support to motorcyclists across the province.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, where development, welfare and reform projects worth over Rs30 billion were also approved, covering infrastructure, health, education and governance reforms.
