CM Maryam reviews Attock development needs

LAHORE – Continuing her outreach to party legislators across Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday met Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) from Attock district to review constituency issues, public welfare needs and ongoing development projects.

The meeting was part of the chief minister’s ongoing series of consultations with PML-N lawmakers from different districts. Over the past several weeks, she has met dozens of MPAs to receive first-hand feedback on local issues and discuss development priorities in their constituencies. The Attock legislators briefed the chief minister on public concerns and ongoing projects in the district, while also appreciating the provincial government’s development initiatives and public welfare programmes. The MPAs congratulated Maryam Nawaz on the PML-N’s recent electoral success in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and paid tribute to her for launching the electric bus service in Attock.

They informed the chief minister that electric buses were operating on the POF Sanjwal-Hazro route and from Government College of Technology Dhok Fateh to Attock Khurd, receiving an encouraging response from commuters in Attock and adjoining areas.

The legislators said the provision of free travel for women, students and senior citizens on a modern public transport system had been widely appreciated by the public. They also described the upgradation of villages under the Model Village Project as a transformative initiative and said Punjab’s development model was attracting attention in other provinces.

Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government was committed to ensuring balanced development across urban and rural areas through the Punjab Development Programme. She said major projects relating to roads, drainage and sewerage systems were being executed throughout the province to improve the quality of life of citizens.

The chief minister said that after the success of the Suthra Punjab Programme, the government had shifted its focus towards ensuring access to safe drinking water. “After cleanliness, my next priority is to provide clean drinking water to people across Punjab,” she said, adding that the government was working on multiple initiatives to improve water supply and public health facilities.

Maryam Nawaz said the PML-N had a proven record of delivering major national projects, including making Pakistan a nuclear power and building the country’s motorway network. She added that the Punjab government was determined to continue that tradition through development projects that directly benefited ordinary citizens and improved civic infrastructure across the province.
