Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appreciated US President Donald Trump’s support for the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
In a post on X, the prime minister said he “deeply appreciate[d]” President Trump’s words of support for the agreement.
PM Shehbaz said Pakistan, together with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, would continue to play a constructive role in strengthening the defence of their countries and the wider region.
“Together with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Turkiye, Pakistan will continue to play a constructive role in ensuring the defence of our own countries as well as the entire region,” he said.
The prime minister also praised President Trump for what he described as his “courageous and decisive leadership”, saying it had helped avert a nuclear catastrophe in South Asia and saved millions of lives.
He stressed the importance of lasting peace, saying durable peace was the most essential prerequisite for a bright and prosperous future for the people of the region.
Earlier, President Trump had welcomed the joint defence agreement between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, describing it as an important step towards greater regional security cooperation.
“This is a big, bold, and important first step — WOW!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He said the agreement showed that countries in the Middle East were coming together and would be able to defend themselves “in a more meaningful way”.
Trump also expressed his satisfaction over the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement by Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan.
