Minister reviews water supply, sanitation projects in Abbottabad

peshawar – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health Engineering Fazal Shakoor Khan on Monday presided over an important meeting regarding ongoing water supply and sanitation projects of Abbottabad district.

The meeting reviewed in detail the provision of clean drinking water, sanitation and drainage projects, ongoing development schemes, and proposed new projects in the district.

Relevant officers of the Public Health Engineering Department, including the Executive Engineer Abbottabad, attended the meeting. The XEN briefed the minister in detail on the ongoing water supply and sanitation schemes in Abbottabad, their current status, pace of implementation, challenges being faced, and proposed new projects.

The minister directed the concerned officers to further accelerate work on ongoing projects and ensure their completion within the stipulated timelines. He emphasized that providing clean and safe drinking water to the people is the foremost priority of PHE Department.

Fazal Shakoor Khan said that basic water supply and sanitation facilities are directly linked to the lives and well-being of the people, therefore, no compromise would be made on the quality and transparency of these projects. He issued directives to the concerned officers to ensure regular monitoring of ongoing schemes and immediately address any technical or administrative hurdles affecting their implementation. He further directed that while identifying new projects, special consideration should be given to population needs, availability of water, and public importance.

He emphasized that remote and underdeveloped areas should also be given priority in the provision of basic facilities. He directed the concerned officers to ensure the proper functionality of water supply schemes and take practical measures to utilize available resources effectively in the public interest.
