PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health Khaleeq-ur-Rehman on Friday chaired a meeting to review progress on the Dengue Action Plan 2026, with a particular focus on prevention and control measures, disease surveillance and preparations to contain any possible spread of the disease.
Secretary Health Fayaz Ali Shah, Director General Health Services, Director of the Dengue Control Programme, District Health Officer Peshawar and other senior officials of the Health Department attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the progress of measures being implemented to prevent and control dengue and examined the proposed course of action for the coming period.
Officials briefed the meeting on surveillance mechanisms, timely diagnosis and treatment, preventive measures and public awareness initiatives. The participants also discussed ways to strengthen coordination among relevant departments and institutions to improve preparedness.
Khaleeq-ur-Rehman said dengue prevention and control remained among the government’s key priorities and stressed the need for a comprehensive and coordinated strategy involving all relevant departments and institutions.
He directed the concerned authorities to intensify preventive measures, identify and eliminate potential mosquito-breeding sites and ensure the timely diagnosis and treatment of suspected dengue patients.
The minister also called for further strengthening of the disease surveillance system to enable the authorities to detect and respond promptly to suspected cases.
He directed the Health Department and other relevant agencies to expand public awareness campaigns, with a focus on dengue prevention, precautionary measures and the importance of seeking timely medical treatment.
Khaleeq-ur-Rehman directed all concerned authorities to ensure effective implementation of the Dengue Action Plan 2026 and strengthen coordination among relevant institutions.
