Peshawar – A notorious gangster Mumtaz alias Mumtaze who was wanted to Peshawar Police in no less than 49 cases of heinous crimes was shot dead during a police encounter here on Monday.
According to a spokesperson of Capital City Police Peshawar, the alleged gangster was killed during an armed encounter which took place near Northern Bypass in Shahpur area. The alleged gangster was being transferred to a police facility when unknown gunmen opened on the police party. The police also retaliated. As a result, two attackers were killed on the spot. Mumtaz alias Mumtaze was also killed. Two police officers sustained bullet injuries and were shifted to hospital. Police sources claim some opponents of Mumtaz alias Mumtaze were behind the gun attack. Furytjher investigation was underway.
