ISLAMABAD: The first meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of National Coordinators (CNC) under Pakistan’s chairmanship for 2026–27 began in Islamabad on Monday.
The meeting, being held from September 28 to 30, is chaired by Pakistan’s National Coordinator for the SCO, Dr M. Faisal, and attended by national coordinators from SCO member states and representatives of the SCO Secretariat.
An Indian delegation is also participating in the meeting, marking the visit of an Indian delegation to Pakistan for an SCO meeting after nearly two years.
The national coordinators are discussing issues related to SCO cooperation and coordination, including the programme of activities under Pakistan’s chairmanship, preparations for upcoming SCO meetings and events, and other matters on the organisation’s agenda.
Pakistan is focusing its SCO chairmanship on the theme “Turning Vision into Action: Connectivity, Innovation and Shared Prosperity.”
Under its chairmanship, Pakistan aims to promote greater connectivity, foster innovation, enhance economic cooperation and strengthen people-to-people contacts among member states.
The meeting will also contribute to preparations for high-level engagements and activities planned during Pakistan’s chairmanship, including the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting to be hosted by Pakistan in August 2027.
