On the occasion of Constitution Day, Syed Murad Ali Shah highlighted the importance of the 1973 Constitution as the cornerstone of Pakistan’s federal strength and citizens’ rights.
He described April 10, 1973, as a landmark moment in the country’s history, when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto introduced a unanimously agreed, democratic, and Islamic Constitution for the nation.
The chief minister stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party remains firmly committed to upholding constitutional supremacy. He added that under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the party continues its efforts to safeguard the Constitution, which he said is essential for democratic stability.
Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the Constitution is built on the principle of public sovereignty, ensuring equal rights and protection for all citizens. He noted that it serves as the foundation of trust between the state and the people, obligating the government to deliver justice accordingly.
He further remarked that adherence to the rule of law defines a strong state, and Constitution Day serves as a reminder of both rights and responsibilities. Stressing collective duty, he said safeguarding the Constitution is vital for the country’s future and for strengthening democratic institutions.
