Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday attended a trilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatar’s Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
The three leaders discussed recent regional developments and ongoing peace efforts, with particular focus on the situation in Gaza and Palestine. They agreed to maintain close coordination to promote dialogue and diplomacy aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
In a separate development, Iran announced the complete reopening of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, signalling progress in ongoing de-escalation efforts.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a post on X, confirmed that the waterway had been fully reopened and linked the move to prevailing ceasefire conditions in the region, particularly in Lebanon.
He said the strait would remain operational for the duration of the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States, describing the decision as part of broader efforts to maintain stability and ensure uninterrupted maritime activity during the truce.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, in a post on Truth Social, thanked Pakistan and praised its leadership, describing Prime Minister Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as “two fantastic people”.
He termed the development a “great and memorable day for the world” and commended both the civilian and military leadership of Pakistan, calling the country a “great nation”.
