The Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigation (BASI) has continued its investigation into the K2 Airways cargo plane crash, with investigators conducting an aerial assessment of the crash site near Ormara.
According to sources, the investigation team examined how the aircraft plunged into the sea from a significant altitude while returning to Karachi from Sharjah. Officials have also completed an initial review of the aircraft’s available records as part of the ongoing probe.
Investigators have examined the recovered wreckage of the aircraft, along with personal belongings recovered from the bag of crew member Engineer Muhammad Hamid.Sources said authorities are considering seeking assistance from international specialist companies to help locate the aircraft’s engines, flight recorder (black box), and the missing crew members in the deep sea.
The K2 Airways cargo aircraft crashed into the Arabian Sea near Ormara on July 7 while en route from Sharjah to Karachi, destroying the aircraft. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
Earlier, the flight crew was identified as Captain Muhammad Rizwan, First Officer Faisal Mahmood, Loadmaster Muhammad Toufiq Khan, Engineer Arif Siddiqui, and Engineer Muhammad Hamid.The investigation remains underway as authorities continue recovery and search efforts at the crash site.
