ISLAMABAD – The federal government has once again jacked up the prices of Petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs 6.39 per litre and Rs 7.83 per litre, respectively, effective for one day (July 23).
“Based on revised petroleum pricing mechanism, issued by Federal Government, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised the ex-depot prices of the petroleum products for 23rd July, 2026 “said a press release issued by the Petroleum Division here Wednesday. Following the hike, Petrol will go up to Rs 327.12 per litre from the existing Rs 320.73 per litre, while after increase HSD will go up to Rs 375.04 per litre from the existing Rs 367.21 per litre. The new prices will be effective for today (Thursday) only.
Petrol is mostly used in private transport, small vehicles, three wheelers and two-wheelers, while high-speed diesel is mainly used in the heavy transport sector. Due to volatility in global oil rates, the federal government has shifted to a daily fuel price review mechanism.
Notably, for July 22, the Federal Government had jacked up the prices of Petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs 4.93 per litre and Rs 7.15 per litre, respectively. Similarly, for July 21, the federal government had jacked up the high-speed diesel by Rs 5.71 per litre, while slashed petrol by Rs 0.35 per litre.
On July 17, the government had jacked up the prices of petrol by Rs 5.44 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs 31.05 per litre effective for the next three days (18 to 20 July).For the week ended July 17, the federal government had jacked up the prices of petrol Rs 13.18 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs 13.80 per litre.
