The Met Office has forecast another monsoon spell across the country from July 29 to August 5, with several areas expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
According to the weather advisory, monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are likely to penetrate the upper and central parts of the country. A westerly wave is currently affecting the northern areas and is expected to strengthen from Aug 1, impacting most upper and central parts of the country.
Rainfall is expected in Kashmir from the night of July 28 to Aug 5, with occasional gaps, while Gilgit-Baltistan is likely to receive moderate to heavy rain from the evening or night of July 28 to Aug 6.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to receive rain from July 29 to Aug 5, with scattered heavy to very heavy falls.
Punjab and Islamabad are likely to experience rainfall, including scattered heavy to very heavy falls, from July 29 to Aug 4.
In southern Punjab, rain is expected from July 31 to Aug 3 in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur, Multan, Vehari, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
Eastern and southern parts of Balochistan are also expected to receive rainfall with isolated heavy falls from July 31 to Aug 3.
In Sindh, isolated moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast from July 31 to Aug 2 in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Badin, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matiari, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Larkana, Khairpur, Naushehro Feroze and Thatta.
The Met Office has warned of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad from July 30 to Aug 4.
A similar risk has been forecast in parts of Sindh, including Nawabshah, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sanghar, Khairpur, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Tando Muhammad Khan and Tando Allahyar, during the wet spell from July 31 to Aug 2.
The Met Office advised residents and relevant authorities to remain alert and take precautionary measures in areas vulnerable to urban flooding.
