ISLAMABAD – Pakistan attaches great importance to its longstanding relationship with the United States, which is founded on mutual respect, trust and shared interests. This was stated by Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq in a meeting with United States congressional delegation, led by Representatives Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq extended a warm welcome to the visiting US congressional delegation. Chargé d’Affaires Ms Natalie A Baker was also present on the occasion.
The meeting focused on Pak–US bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stated that parliamentary diplomacy can play a pivotal role in strengthening bilateral relations. He stressed the need to further expand parliamentary exchanges and cooperation between the legislatures of Pakistan and the United States of America. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, stability and diplomatic solutions in the region. He stated that Pakistan had consistently supported restraint, dialogue and de-escalation during recent regional tensions, adding that diplomacy and dialogue remain most effective means of resolving disputes. The US congressmen thanked Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for warm welcome and hospitality. They appreciated Pakistan’s positive and constructive role during the Iran–US conflict and acknowledged its efforts in promoting regional peace and stability.
