Lahore has been listed among the world’s safest major cities in the 2026 Numbeo Crime and Safety Index, recording the lowest crime index compared with several prominent cities featured in the latest global rankings.
According to the report, Lahore ranked ahead of cities including Karachi, New Delhi, Paris, London, Washington, New York and Mexico City in terms of public safety.
The city’s crime index improved from 36.8 in mid-2025 to 36.2 in mid-2026, while its safety index increased from 63.2 to 63.8 over the same period, indicating a positive trend in overall security.
Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Lahore Muhammad Faisal Kamran said the improved rankings reflect the impact of the Lahore Police‘s security measures and sustained efforts to strengthen law and order across the provincial capital.
