The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has postponed the schedule for the upcoming local government elections by seven days, allowing the provincial government additional time to complete proposed amendments to the Local Government Act 2014.
According to the commission, the provincial government has been granted seven more days to finalise the proposed amendments to the law.
The commission said revised dates for all stages of the election process affected by the postponement would be incorporated into a fresh election schedule.
Polling, which was previously scheduled for September 27, will also be held on a revised date, it added.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission will announce a new election programme after the seven-day period expires.
