Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Sri Lankan authorities have seized 671 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice,” in a joint operation targeting an international drug trafficking network, the ANF said on Friday.
According to the ANF, its intelligence-led operation in July 2026 resulted in the seizure of 200kg of methamphetamine from a container at Karachi Port and the arrest of two suspects, including alleged Afghan ringleader Ehsanullah.
Information obtained during interrogation was shared with Sri Lankan authorities and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), enabling further action against the network.
Acting on the intelligence provided by the ANF, Sri Lankan authorities seized another 471kg of methamphetamine from two containers at Colombo Port and arrested six members of the network.
The combined operation resulted in the seizure of 671kg of methamphetamine allegedly smuggled from Afghanistan. The drugs were reportedly intended for international markets, with Pakistani territory being used as a transit route.
The ANF said its intelligence sharing and cooperation with international law enforcement agencies played a key role in disrupting the trafficking network.
Sri Lankan authorities and the US DEA formally appreciated the ANF’s role in the operation, which the force described as a major demonstration of its intelligence and international cooperation capabilities.
