Police have completed their inquiry into the fire incident at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and submitted the report to the inspector general of police.
The report is expected to be forwarded to the interior ministry for further review. It contains written statements and location details of the officials named in connection with the incident, while CCTV footage from PIMS and the Safe City surveillance system has also been included.
According to the report, police recorded statements from former PIMS executive director Imran Sikandar, Prof Dr Saadia and other doctors as part of the investigation.
Investigators also recorded the statement of nurse Razia Parveen, who reportedly rescued a newborn during the incident.
A decision on the registration of a case will be taken after approval from the interior ministry.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court heard a petition seeking a judicial inquiry into the PIMS tragedy. The court subsequently clubbed the petition with an already pending case concerning the incident.
