QUETTA: Security forces have killed four militants during an operation in Panjgur district of Balochistan, according to security sources.
The operation was launched after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants in the area. An intense exchange of fire took place during the operation, resulting in the deaths of four militants, the sources said. (Geo News)
A large quantity of modern weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the militants, according to the sources.
Security operations are continuing in the area to clear any remaining militants, the sources added.
The Panjgur operation comes a day after security forces killed eight militants during an exchange of fire in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while six Pakistan Army personnel were martyred.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the clash occurred between a security forces’ convoy and militants in Hangu. The forces responded effectively, killing eight militants identified by the military as members of “Fitna al-Khawarij”.
Two officers and four soldiers were martyred during the intense exchange of fire while leading their troops from the front.
The martyred officers were identified as 23-year-old Captain Abu Zar Farooq, a resident of Gujranwala district, and 22-year-old Lieutenant Shiraz Babar, a resident of Chakwal district. (Daily Pakistan English News)
The military said the sacrifices of the personnel reflected their commitment to defending the country, while sanitisation operations continued in the area.
