LAHORE: Two sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, have been detained for 30 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) on the orders of the Lahore deputy commissioner.
According to sources, the detention was ordered on police recommendations amid concerns over a possible threat to public order.
Police detained Uzma and Noreen, along with their nephews, from the residence of their sister Aleema Khan. They were reportedly taken away in an armoured vehicle.
The children and other family members were later released, while Uzma and Noreen were sent to jail under the 30-day detention orders.
The development came after Aleema Khan was also detained by police. She was reportedly taken into custody while travelling from Upper Mall towards Gymkhana and later shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Lytton Road police detained Aleema Khan under Section 3 of the MPO, while her vehicle was taken to the police station.
