Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that reforms have been initiated to transform Pakistan Television (PTV) into a merit-based and profitable organization.
Briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting in Islamabad, he said the national broadcaster had suffered in the past due to nepotism, abuse of authority and corruption.
The minister informed the committee that restructuring is under way at PTV, including PTV World (English) and the Digital Media Department. He said new talent is being inducted to improve content quality, increase viewership and enhance revenue.
Attaullah Tarar added that the reforms aim to strengthen transparency, efficiency and PTV’s role as a credible public service broadcaster.
