Islamabad to get 1,000-acre park, new investment incentives approved

A major urban development plan has been approved for the federal capital, including the construction of a new park spanning over 1,000 acres at the foothills of the Margalla Hills.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the headquarters of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The meeting reviewed ongoing and future development projects aimed at transforming Islamabad into a model city equipped with international-standard facilities and modern recreational spaces.

Mohsin Naqvi said the government is committed to enhancing the city’s infrastructure and providing quality amenities to residents and visitors alike. As part of the plan, it was decided that five-star hotels will be developed through joint ventures with international firms.

To attract investment, the interior minister directed officials to formulate a zero-tax policy for the hotel sector. The meeting also approved conducting a comprehensive survey of all land and properties in Islamabad through the Survey of Pakistan.

In addition, Naqvi instructed authorities to appoint a dedicated marketing team for upcoming auctions to ensure maximum investor participation.

The meeting further decided to establish a control room for Capital Emergency Services within the Islamabad Safe City system to improve response and coordination.

Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf briefed participants on the progress of various development initiatives in the capital.
