Pakistan Navy successfully test-fires indigenously developed ‘Taimoor’ cruise missile

The Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted a test of its indigenously developed air-to-surface cruise missile, “Taimoor”, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said the test demonstrated the navy’s capability for precision targeting at sea and reflected a high level of operational readiness. The missile, launched from an aerial platform towards a maritime target, accurately struck its designated objective.

The successful firing underscores the Pakistan Navy’s ability to detect and neutralise targets at extended ranges within the maritime domain. Officials described the demonstration as a significant enhancement to the country’s defence capabilities.

The development comes as Pakistan continues efforts to strengthen its integrated and multi-dimensional defence posture, particularly in safeguarding maritime interests and territorial waters.

Separately, Pakistan and Egypt recently conducted a joint military exercise titled “Thunder-II”, aimed at enhancing cooperation and interoperability between the armed forces of the two countries.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and Naval Chief Naveed Ashraf congratulated the scientists and engineers involved in the project, terming the successful test a major milestone.
