KARACHI: Police have obtained the first CCTV footage showing 25-year-old Mir Raza Ali leaving his home, marking a key development in the investigation into the recovery of his tortured body from Gulistan-e-Johar Block 1.
According to police sources, the footage was captured near Mir Raza Ali’s residence in P.E.C.H.S. and shows the young man booking an online ride-hailing car to travel to Gulistan-e-Johar during the night.
The footage shows a white car entering his street at 4:09am. The driver parked the vehicle outside Mir Raza Ali’s house and waited.
Exactly two minutes and 20 seconds after the car stopped, Mir Raza Ali appeared in the street, entered the vehicle and left the area.
District East Police said the identification of the vehicle and the exact time of the victim’s departure had helped expand the scope of the investigation.
Multiple police teams are now collecting CCTV footage from locations along the route taken by the online ride-hailing car and the victim. Investigators are attempting to determine what happened after Mir Raza Ali got out of the vehicle and identify the individuals he may have encountered.
Police said efforts were underway to trace and arrest those involved in the murder.
Earlier, investigators had indicated that a close acquaintance may have been involved in the killing. Police also revealed that Mir Raza Ali never reached his kitchen on the day of his murder.
The SHO Ferozabad and the investigation officer, along with teams from the investigation and operations wings, conducted a detailed inspection of the victim’s kitchen and reviewed evidence from the site.
During the examination, police found that the waffle-making machines and other equipment were still in their original positions, indicating that the victim had not visited the kitchen that day.
Police have started recording statements from employees working around the kitchen to identify any suspicious activity and gather further clues.
Investigators also searched a guest house identified by an online taxi driver. However, initial findings suggested that Mir Raza Ali had not visited the guest house, adding another development to the high-profile murder investigation.
