The number of registered voters in Pakistan has risen by 294,818 since July 2, taking the total electorate to 136.87 million, according to the latest figures released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The ECP, which maintains and periodically updates the country’s electoral rolls, said Punjab continued to account for the largest share of voters, with 77,571,216 people registered in the province. The figure increased by 94,582 after July 2.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 23,492,258 registered voters after the addition of 85,309 voters, while Sindh’s electoral roll rose by 65,345 to 28,741,092.
Balochistan has 5,800,154 registered voters, following an increase of 37,372, while Islamabad’s electorate reached 1,264,497 after 12,210 new voters were added.
Among major cities and districts, Lahore has the largest electorate, with 7,412,267 registered voters.
Faisalabad has 5,583,461 registered voters, followed by Rawalpindi with 3,495,001, Multan with 3,277,884, Gujranwala with 2,962,772 and Sialkot with 2,960,283.
In Karachi, Central district has 2,277,495 registered voters, East 1,806,179, Korangi 1,630,590, South 1,313,906 and West 1,025,410.
Elsewhere in Sindh, Khairpur has 1,450,378 registered voters, Hyderabad 1,287,640, Naushehro Feroze 997,162 and Badin 996,858.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar has the largest electorate at 2,245,452, followed by Mardan with 1,643,274, Mansehra 1,182,277, Charsadda 1,138,099 and Swat 912,653.
Quetta leads Balochistan with 948,657 registered voters, followed by Pishin with 347,091 and Khuzdar with 320,871. Kech has 287,518 voters, Nasirabad 257,501, Chaman 207,882, Hub 152,866, Dera Bugti 152,555, Jaffarabad 150,352 and Gwadar 149,337.
Meanwhile, the number of registered female voters across the country has reached 63,927,116. The ECP figures put the gap between male and female voters at 9,014,985.Lahore also has the highest number of registered female voters, with 3,549,226 women enrolled on the electoral rolls.
