Christians in Pakistan and around the world marked the joyous occasion of Easter on Sunday, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ with religious devotion and festive spirit.
Special prayer services were held at churches across the country, which were decorated with colourful flags and lights. Worshippers gathered in large numbers to offer prayers for peace, prosperity, and harmony.
The government ensured strict security arrangements at churches nationwide to facilitate safe celebrations.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt greetings to the Christian community in Pakistan and across the globe.
In his message, the president said Easter symbolizes compassion, hope, renewal, and the triumph of good over evil. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Christian community, describing them as an integral part of the country’s social fabric.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the universal message of love, sacrifice, and forgiveness associated with Easter, emphasizing the importance of peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony.
He also praised the Christian community for its active and meaningful role in Pakistan’s economic and social development.
