Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara successfully summited Mount Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest mountain, on Saturday, adding another milestone to his high-altitude climbing career.
According to details, Sajid reached the 8,485-metre summit at around 5am. The peak is located in Nepal’s Mahalangur Himalayas, about 19 kilometres southeast of Mount Everest.
The successful expedition marked Sajid’s 10th mountain above 8,000 metres, further strengthening his standing among Pakistan’s leading mountaineers.
Mount Makalu is regarded as one of the world’s most technically difficult peaks due to its steep ridges, harsh terrain, and extreme weather conditions faced during expeditions.
The Alpine Club of Pakistan congratulated Sajid on the achievement, calling it a proud moment for the country.
In a statement, ACP President Maj Gen (retd) Irfan Arshad praised Sajid’s courage, determination, and mountaineering skills, saying the accomplishment would inspire young climbers and further enhance Pakistan’s presence on the global mountaineering stage.
ACP Vice President Karrar Haidri also felicitated Sajid and wished him a safe descent and continued success in future expeditions.
