ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ejaz Chaudhary has approached the Supreme Court, seeking suspension of his sentence and challenging the Lahore High Court’s April 28 order.
In a petition filed before the apex court, Chaudhary requested the suspension of the trial court’s August 11, 2025 verdict and asked the Supreme Court to set aside the Lahore High Court’s decision.
The petitioner argued that he has no prior criminal record and maintained that his name was added to the case at a later stage. According to the plea, the prosecution’s case is based on allegations of meetings and an alleged conspiracy at Zaman Park.
Chaudhary submitted that both prosecution witnesses are government employees and pointed out that the Lahore High Court had already suspended the sentence of another accused in the same case. He contended that he is entitled to the same relief on the principle of equal treatment.
The PTI leader further argued that he has also been convicted in another case registered at Lahore’s Sarwar Road Police Station over the same incident. He maintained that being prosecuted and convicted in two separate cases arising from the same occurrence is contrary to law.
The petition has been filed against the conviction handed down by the trial court in the case registered at Shadman Police Station. The Supreme Court is expected to take up the matter for hearing in due course.
