Judicial Commission approves 10 new Lahore High Court judges

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Tuesday approved the appointment of 10 new judges to the Lahore High Court (LHC) during a meeting chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi.

The commission also considered the confirmation of one LHC judge along with appointments against 10 vacant positions. A total of 24 candidates were in contention for the available posts.

Following deliberations, the commission approved the appointments of Syed Farhad Ali Shah, Amjad Pervaiz, Asad Bajwa, Ghulam Sarwar Nihung, Shireen Imran, Usman Ghani, Rashid Cheema, Munawar Duggal, Ameer Ajam Malik, Khalid Ibn Aziz, and Ajmal Khan as judges of the Lahore High Court.

The appointments were approved after the commission completed its review of the shortlisted candidates.

The newly approved judges will be formally appointed after completion of the required constitutional and administrative procedures.
