KP launches complaint cell, helpline 1992 for public grievances

Peshawar  –  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs Tariq Saeed Marwat on Wednesday inaugurated a Complaint Cell and its dedicated helpline, 1992, to facilitate the timely redressal of public grievances.

The facility has been established by the Home and Tribal Affairs Department to receive complaints, suggestions and grievances concerning the department and its attached institutions.

Senior officers and officials of the department attended the inauguration ceremony. Deputy Director Home and Tribal Affairs Rafaqat Khan briefed the special assistant on the cell’s operational framework, scope and complaint-management system.

Officials said the department had formally notified the establishment of the Complaint Cell. Members of the public may lodge complaints through helpline 1992, telephone number 091-9214941, email, written applications and other officially approved communication channels.

All complaints will be formally recorded, while the identities of complainants will be kept confidential. The complaints will be referred to the relevant authorities for action under a monitoring and follow-up mechanism designed to ensure their timely disposal.

Director IT Muhammad Bashir has been appointed head of the Complaint Cell and will oversee its operations, monitor the complaint-resolution process and prepare periodic performance reports.

Addressing the ceremony, Tariq Saeed said the initiative reflected the vision of Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi to promote responsive governance, transparency, accountability and efficient public service delivery.

He said the Complaint Cell would provide citizens with an accessible and reliable platform to register grievances and seek their timely redressal, helping strengthen public confidence in government institutions.

The special assistant directed the relevant authorities to ensure that complaints were processed and resolved within the prescribed timeframe. He also stressed the need for effective monitoring and follow-up, urging officials to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism, integrity and dedication.
