The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly witnessed a year marked by persistent delays, quorum shortages and prolonged debates in 2025, with sessions rarely starting on time, according to official records.
During the year, the provincial assembly held four sessions in total, in which 31 bills were presented. Of these, 26 bills were passed, while five could only be introduced and remained pending.
Amendments were proposed to 20 laws, including the Local Government Amendment Bill, Finance Bill, KP Ease of Doing Business Bill, KP Legal Aid Amendment Bill and the Agricultural Income Tax Bill. The house also approved 61 resolutions, while points of objection were debated on eight occasions. However, 11 sittings were postponed due to the lack of quorum.
Despite operational challenges, the assembly approved the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025-26. The province also hosted its first-ever peace jirga, and the house remained engaged in detailed discussions on the law and order situation for more than six months.
Political analysts noted that while the KP Assembly achieved notable legislative outcomes, frequent delays, quorum issues and lengthy debates adversely affected its overall performance.
