With two days remaining before the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, political activity has intensified across the region as parties make a final push to woo voters ahead of polling on July 27.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to address a public rally in Mirpur on Friday at Quaid-i-Azam Stadium.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will also attend the gathering along with senior PML-N leaders from the centre and AJK.
Preparations for the rally have entered the final phase, with the main stage completed and other logistical arrangements being finalised. Party workers and supporters have begun arriving in Mirpur from different parts of the region, while organisers expect a large turnout at the event.
The rally comes as political parties step up their campaigns in the closing days before the AJK Legislative Assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held on July 27. Candidates across the region are holding public meetings and corner gatherings in a last effort to mobilise voters before polling day.
